Top 5 Summer Skincare Must-Haves

The weather in Montana has officially reached the 80s and I wanted to share my summer skincare must-haves!

Skincare is something I wish I took a little more seriously years ago when I was in college. I went to the University of Arizona, a very large campus, and I walked all across campus to class, five days a week – all without sunscreen. Can you believe it?! Of course, back then, I didn’t have all the sun/dark spots I have now, so the thought of them happening to me never came to mind! Now, at 32, my skin is different and I realize the importance of proper skincare and protecting your skin from all potential harm – all to help age gracefully!

This list is just a basic reference and doesn’t include any extras. This is just a list of what I’ve found works well for me. Here are my top five summer skincare must-haves:

1. Sunscreen

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it over and over again – sunscreen is a major must!! While sunscreen is on my summer skincare must-have list, it’s something you should be using year-round! If you take only one piece of advice from this blog post, I hope it’s implementing sunscreen in your skincare routine, if you don’t yet. My favorite ones are from Supergoop – They have a huge variety, but I love their Unseen Sunscreen and their powder sunscreen for touch-ups throughout the day. I also just ordered this facial spray sunscreen – I’ll keep you updated on how I like it!

2. Moisturizer

Just because you have oily skin, doesn’t mean you need to skip out on moisturizer! It took me a long time to understand this because I’ve always had oily skin. In fact, it used to be a lot worse than it is today because I used to not do anything about it! There is so much a dermatologist can you help out with in terms of your skincare routine, or targeting areas you’re concerned about. I’m picky about my moisturizers – my favorite ones are the ones that melt on your face and leave your skin feeling soft, smooth, and of course, moisturized. My favorite is this one from Neutrogena, but if I want to splurge, I love this one from Lancome.

3. Cleanser

It took me a while to get a good cleansing routine down – you have to understand what works best for your skin! When I worked in TV news, I would pile on the makeup (I still do most days!), so I needed a cleansing that would ensure a deep clean for my pores. In order to get that, I use the double-cleansing method. First, I use an oil-based cleanser to remove all my makeup and dirt from the day, then I use a water-based cleanser to ensure all of it comes off! This method works best on my skin. Check out my blog post all about it here (I’ve since switched my cleanser to CeraVe). Here are my double-cleansing products: Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm and CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser.

4. Toner

For a while, I didn’t think toner did much – I really wondered, “what’s the point?” Now, I understand it further cleans your skin – removing anything else left behind after your cleansing routine. I personally noticed a major difference when I switched to the double cleansing method – I saw less and less being left behind on my cotton round! I don’t splurge on toners, and usually use this one from Thayers. My favorite is the cucumber-scented one. It’s very gentle and doesn’t dry my face out.

5. Moisture Spray

Okay, this one is just something to refresh you – moisture spray! I love the feeling of spraying on setting spray after putting makeup on, and I was excited when I found this Moisture Surge spray from Clinique. First of all, I’m a huge fan of Clinique’s Moisture Surge Hydrator (it was a big help during my maskne incident), so I knew this spray would also be effective. I got a sample of it in an order and found it to be so useful in the summer, or anytime my skin needed some hydration.

I hope you found my list helpful! Let me know what changes you’re making to your skincare routine this summer!

Best Sellers | May 9 – 15

We had a warm start to the week in Montana (finally!) and I’m hoping we have another warm weekend ahead!

Speaking of warm weather, last week’s best sellers includes sunscreen from Supergoop – my favorite! This particular one acts as a makeup primer too, so that’s a plus!

Montana is also getting warm enough to the point where I can comfortably wear pj shorts again! This set from Target is affordable and comfortable. I wear a size small.

It always makes me happy to see one of my favorite everyday pieces on this list – my ring from Amazon. This ring never tarnishes and never turns my finger green. It’s such great quality for the price. I believe I got a size 7.

These Quay blue-light glasses are always in my work purse. It gives your eyes a nice break when you’re in front of your computer or phone for hours. I swear it helps relieve my sinus headaches!

The last item to share is this Amazon necklace holder/display. I love that it has three tiers, which gives a home for all your necklaces of every length. It really pulls my jewelry chest together. You can check out this blog post all about it!

I hope you all have a great week!

Best Sellers | May 2 – 8

I’m excited for last week’s best sellers because it tells me that my tote lovers came out!

My everyday work bag is my Tory Burch Ella Patent tote. It fits everything I need to carry to and from work and I love the look – it goes with any outfit!

That Tory Burch tote can turn into a black hole, so that’s why I bought this purse organizer from Amazon. It gives everything in my purse a home, making everything easy to find! I’m glad I saw both the tote and the organizer on this list! It shows me you’re really taking my advice!

Another favorite tote made the list – the Longchamp tote! It’s such great quality, mine from college (either my last year of school or the year before) has lasted years!! I’ve even washed it (on the delicate cycle) in the washing machine. I have mine in the olive green color and I definitely want to get another one in a different color, since mine is JUST starting to show some wear and tear! If you are looking for a reliable, high-quality tote – get the Longchamp. I 12/10 recommend!

The next top-selling item is the egg swing chair – another sign it’s starting to warm up everywhere! Right now, it looks like almost all egg swing chairs are on sale on Overstock.com! I have to admit, I’ve seen better sales, so I’d hold off for a bigger percentage off. But I am so happy with my chair – it’s perfect for warm weather.

The last top-seller is this doggy pool! It’s foldable and easy to clean – perfect for dog baths or for cooling off in the summer months. If you missed my video about it, you can click here to check it out! Karma loves swimming, so I knew this pool would be a must for her this summer.

I hope you all have a great week!

Jewelry Organization | Amazon finds

Hi all! I hope you’re all having a great weekend! I’m actually in Arizona for my sister’s college graduation, so I’m enjoying the warmth and sunshine!

This week’s YouTube video is a look at my jewelry organization. I recently switched up the top of my Amazon chest because I wanted to make it a more functional space. I also needed a better way to arrange my necklaces and watches, and I’m so happy I was finally able to do this.

I thought this necklace stand would be the best way to display them. So far, it’s been a lot easier to actually see ALL of my necklace options as I get ready for the day. The tray at the bottom is also nice for the bracelets I use often (which is two at most!).

I’ve also been loving the way my watches are displayed on this mirrored tray. It’s definitely bigger than I expected, but now I can display more watches than I planned!

To complete the space, I brought over my jewelry box from my closet shelf and added a Tiffany’s box next to the clock and picture. I also wanted to keep my wedding invitation because I think it’s just such a cute touch!

Every time I look at this space, I get so happy! It’s visually appealing and functional – exactly what I wanted!

Best Sellers | April 25 – May 1

It’s time for another round of best sellers! Last week brought a mix of random products, including socks, earrings, and a blow torch, haha!

First, I want to talk about the Jergens self-tanner – it really does give off a natural glow! I don’t use self-tanner all the time, but this one is easy to use I love that you can see instant color when you’re applying it; it helps you know which areas you’ve already covered.

These cubic zirconia earrings from Nordstrom are part of my everyday jewelry. I wear them in my second and third ear piercings and rarely take them off. The quality is great!

Next, these Amazon socks are basic, but I love that they STAY PUT! I’m sure we’ve all had socks that seem to somehow come off while you’re wearing them or some that just don’t last. Socks are socks, but for some reason, these are my favorite. I also really like how low cut they are – they’re perfect for Old Skool vans!

I’ve mentioned these blue light glasses before, and I’m excited to see them make this list! I truly believe they help with my sinus headaches. If I feel one coming, I make sure to grab these while I’m watching TV or doing some work on the computer, and my headache will fade!

Lastly, this Amazon blow torch is perfect for cooking or lighting deep candles you can’t reach the wick with it using a normal lighter. I have yet to use it for a fancy meal, but I love that I’ll be ready when the time comes!
