How I made my own candle | Candle DIY

Hope you all had a great weekend! I spent part of it making this candle – it was something I had been wanting to do for a long time, but didn’t realize how much went into it!

My plan was to make a citronella candle to keep mosquitoes away in the backyard, but I couldn’t find citronella oil anywhere (in person)! So, I ended up using pure lemon and orange essential oils. I understand essential oils are flammable, so I encourage everyone who wants to DIY a candle to do research to understand the correct amount of essential or fragrance oil to use in your candle.

As you’ll see in my video, I melted half of each bag of wax at a time in order to make sure I wasn’t over-making any. In total, I ended up using two and a half pounds of wax melt.

In the end, I’m super happy with how my first DIY candle turned out! I think it looks pretty and is a wonderful centerpiece for our patio!

We finally got the rest of our patio set!

Our patio set is finally complete! It’s been a journey trying to get our third box that was “lost” and lots, and lots of emails with Best Choice Products. We ordered it from Walmart, but it was delivered directly from BCP.

Honestly, I’m happy with our outdoor sectional, but going back and forth with BCP was a huge hassle – they told us to repack what we had and send it back because it was out of stock. I was dumbfounded! How do you lose part of a set?

I refused to accept what they said and they eventually were able to get me a new in-stock date. It took around two months and we finally got what we were missing.

Best Sellers | May 31 – June 6

Last week’s best sellers was a hit with Amazon, with items from Abercrombie and Express.

The broom is the FURemover and is amazing at removing fur from your carpet – it’s a huge help if your vacuum gets clogged up with fur easily. Our Dyson is still doing great, and I think because we make sure to vacuum weekly, our carpet is easier to maintain than the carpet we had in Colorado. We just had a constant layer of fur we could never get out!

Pack with me

Hi all! I’m getting this blog post up early this week since I’ll be out of town for a few days (wedding stuff!). So, I thought I’d show you how I pack for a trip!

For this trip, I decided to get two sets of packing cubes. I got this pack from Bed, Bath, and Beyond, which each came with a set of three cubes – small, medium, and large. I wasn’t sure if I actually would need two sets, but I got them just in case. Of course, packing cubes are all over Amazon too, but I decided last minute that I needed them for this trip.

For my bag – I planned on using my Rothy’s weekender bag. I actually have a Closer Look blog post on it here, check it out if you missed it! You’ll see throughout the video down below, I eventually become indecisive, and change my mind about everything and how I used the packing cubes.
