Patio must-haves!

I hope you all had a great weekend! Saturday was relaxing, and today (Sunday) was a busy one! I usually try to flip-flop these so I can fully relax the day before I head back in to work, but it doesn’t always happen that way!

Warmer weather means more time on the patio! I wanted to make this blog post sharing all of my patio must-haves. I’m not making this blog post because I think my patio is perfect. In fact, some of the items I’m listing I don’t even have (yet!). So, for me, my patio is kind of a work in progress. However, being in a military family means we will always be moving, so it’s important for me to buy patio items that I know will work in any outdoor space we have.

Here are my top patio must-haves:

  1. Sectional seating – Everyone needs a good sitting area on their patio, and it’s a plus if it’s comfortable! I love this sectional from Walmart and I love that it comes with all-weather cushions and pillows, and a little table with a tempered-glass top. It took some time to put together, but I felt very accomplished once I was done! I liked this sectional in particular, because you can arrange the seats in multiple different ways. The sectional also came with a weather cover, which I highly recommend for all your patio furniture. Even though the cushions are weatherproof, I want everything to last as long as possible!
  2. Swing/hanging chair– I personally love my egg swing chair (mine is out of stock, but I’ve linked other options). It’s by far my best pandemic purchase! I got mine from Overstock on a really good deal that I just could not pass on. It came with both the stand and the cushions. I bought a cover separately from Amazon, so I love that I can leave the cushions on it while it’s not being used. These swing/hanging chairs are such a fun addition to any patio. I love spending time on it – it’s very comfortable!

  1. Smokeless firepit/gas firepit – We have the Solo Stove and while I personally don’t use it much (my husband uses it more than me), it’s still a nice option to have during the summer and snowless winter nights. We have the Yukon Solo Stove, which is the largest size, and I can say it really does reduce the amount of smoke from a fire. I also think gas fire pits come in some pretty nice options too. I like the options I’ve seen on Overstock and Lowe’s.
  2. Outdoor rug – I never understood the point of an outdoor rug until I started decorating my patio. I finally saw how it can really pull an area together. And while our current patio doesn’t currently have an outdoor rug (you can see in pictures that this is due to the ground under the Solo Stove), I’m definitely planning to get one for our next home! I’ll be looking at Overstock for a good deal on one.
  3. Patio umbrella – I have been on the hunt for a good patio umbrella since our first summer in Montana. I actually wanted one shortly after I got my egg swing chair, but we soon found out that we’d be moving to Montana. Now that we are here, I’ve realized the summers are short and the winters are long. So, the umbrella is on my list for our next home – hopefully, it’s in a warmer spot!
  4. Fly Flans – I recently heard about these Fly Fans on Instagram and it’s already in my “save for later” cart on Amazon. They’re meant to prevent flies from flying to your patio table – which is so helpful for food! I believe they come in a pack of two, but I want to place four all over my patio so I don’t get any flies at all! I might be overdoing it, but I hate flies and want to relax on my patio in peace! How does it work? Apparently, they have little reflectors on the wings that flies don’t like! Stay tuned for a product review once I get these in!
  5. Outdoor grill – No patio is complete without an outdoor grill! We got ours from Amazon, but we are planning to upgrade after our next move! I like the options on Lowe’s for grills too!
  6. Flowers – Last, but not least are some patio plants! I don’t have very many, but the one pot of flowers I have on my little table has made such a huge difference! It’s a pop of color and it just adds so much to the space! We have a local flower farm in town, but you can also check out spots like Home Depot or Lowe’s.

While my patio may look unfinished, it’s all helping me plan for our next home and its outdoor space – which I’m so excited for!

My new egg/teardrop hanging chair

I’ve been seeing these egg/teardrop hanging chairs more and more in the past few months (pre-COVID-19), and I’ve always thought they were so cute and such a fun idea.

I decided to just go for it and purchase one for myself!

I took the time to search for one I really liked and wasn’t too expensive. I had found cheaper versions of the egg chair, but that’s all it was – just a chair, not a swing.

Overstock.com actually had a sale going on, and I found one I actually liked! It also came with a stand and pillows, which I thought was convenient because I saw a few listings where you had to buy the chair and stand separately.

I ended up buying the Cayuse Outdoor Wicker Tear Drop Hanging Chair from Overstock. It was originally listed at $417, but I got it for $377 (with the sale and a coupon!).

Unfortunately, it’s out of stock, but here’s the link in case it comes back: https://bit.ly/3gmE7aJ

I highly recommend getting a rain cover. Here’s the one I have: https://amzn.to/3hiVaL1

Here’s a few options from Walmart: https://bit.ly/3eno8XX

Here’s a popular one I’ve seen from Target (this one doesn’t hang): https://bit.ly/3dbX6CU
